San Javier will close parks and disinfect public spaces due to the increase in infections in the municipality | Radio Cartagena

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo has announced this Wednesday, August 26, the closure of all parks in the municipality to avoid concentration of people, after the meeting held in the San Javier City Council with the manager of the VIII Mar Menor Health Area, Tomás Fernández who indicated that “San Javier is the municipality of the Mar Menor area with the most complicated trend currently with 32 of the 91 active cases of COVID-19 in the region “.

The closure of parks will be accompanied by a new campaign to disinfect particularly crowded public spacesadded the mayor who pointed out that “the City Council will take the necessary measures to try to reduce infections, always following the recommendations of the health authorities.”

Tomás Fernández sent the mayor and the San Javier government team the updated data this morning that show a total of 91 active cases of COVID-19 in the Mar Menor Health Area, of which 32 belong to San Javier, 20 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 21 to Torre Pacheco and 14 to Los Alcázares, to which are added 4 from Caravaca. Of the 91 active cases, there are 7 hospitalized, two of them in the ICU.

The age of those infected has decreased to an average of around 40 years and an increase of asymptomatic cases or with mild symptoms.

Despite the upward trend in infections, the Mar Menor region is among the least risky in the Murcia region, “although this is a matter of time,” said Tomás Fernández, who stated that “San Javier worries us because cases are skyrocketing in recent days. “

José Miguel Luengo influenced the message of social commitment against the pandemic and announced that together with measures such as the closure of parks and disinfection, a communicative work will be carried out in which it is intended to involve all kinds of associations and clubs in the municipality to reach all groups. Luengo recalled that the City Council has adapted the El Mirador office to the new measures and that in September work will begin on the Santiago de La Ribera office. “The City Council will make the necessary effort, but we must live with this and we will only be able to do so if we truly all act responsibly “, he claimed.
