SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS AND SANTA CLARA COUNTY HEALTH SYSTEM HAVE PARTNERED TO CREATE THE LARGEST VACCINATION SITE IN CALIFORNIA – Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 5, 2021

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The San Francisco 49ers and Santa Clara County have announced the creation of California’s largest vaccination site at Levi’s Stadium to facilitate the rapid deployment of COVID-19 vaccines to Santa Clara County residents. The site will open early next week with the initial capacity to vaccinate 5,000 people per day, with plans to increase capacity to 15,000 people per day as vaccine supplies increase.

“We recognize the urgent need for an effective and equitable vaccination effort for our community and we are proud to partner with Santa Clara County to bring this vaccination site online as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said the president of the 49ers, Al Guido. “We have provided all the resources at our disposal to meet this challenge and to ensure that members of the community in which we live every day can get vaccinated safely and quickly.”

The site will be staffed and operated by the Santa Clara County Health System.

“We appreciate the 49ers coming together during this difficult time and providing valuable space and resources in the fight against COVID-19,” said Mike Wasserman, president of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. “Sport brings communities together and the 49ers helping to vaccinate our community show true leadership and winning teamwork.”

Everyone is working tirelessly to ensure that the vaccination site can open next week. Levi’s stadium staff, working in conjunction with county health system leaders, local contractors and health workers, are qualified to carry out major logistics operations as safely and efficiently as possible .

“The only way to overcome this pandemic is together, which is why I am pleased to see this collaborative approach to vaccinating our residents on a large scale,” said Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg. “Our county has a history of making history and opening this largest vaccination site in California in partnership with the 49ers is just another example of this.”

“The 49ers are always willing to show up for our community in good times and in hard times,” said Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez. “They fully understand the needs of Santa Clara County and the importance of efficient, prompt and equitable vaccine distribution to our residents. They know how to make it work at Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers have been a bright spot for many of our residents during the pandemic and we applaud them for their partnership. “

Also joining this association is Levi’s®, a long-time 49ers member and active member of the community in the Bay Area. They are helping raise awareness about vaccines and supporting logistics costs to ensure the site can be online as quickly as possible.

“We are proud to see Levi’s Stadium become a vaccination site for the Bay Area community,” said Jen Sey, Global Brand President, Levi Strauss & Co. “Congratulations to the 49ers and Santa County Clara for joining together to meet the urgent need to expand vaccine distribution to as many local citizens as possible. ” For more information on COVID-19 vaccines, eligibility and distribution, visit sccfreevax.org.
