Chicago (USA), Aug 3 (EFE).- Alex Morgan’s San Diego Wave stormed the leadership of the NWSL, the United States women’s soccer league, this Sunday after their 1-0 win against Houston Dash and the defeat of the Portland Thorns.
The Wave added their third straight victory, thanks to a lone goal by Jaedyn Shaw against the Dash, and lead the table with 30 points, one more than the Thorn.
The reigning champions are still struggling, having only won one of their last five matches. This Saturday, they fell 2-1 at home against Racing Louisville.
Gotham is in fifth position, a team coached by Juan Carlos Amorós, who drew 3-3 with the North Carolina Courage.
The NWSL’s top scorer is Sophia Smith of the Thorns, with eleven goals in fifteen games.
The NWSL regular season runs until October 15, when the playoffs will begin.
