San Diego Humane Society Waives Dog Adoption Fees Until Sunday

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day and to encourage residents to adopt a pet that is “their perfect match,” the San Diego Humane Society is waiving adult dog adoption fees through Sunday, February 14.

The nonprofit animal shelter currently cares for 435 dogs and is at 122 percent of its canine capacity, so it hopes adopters will come and “fall in love at first sight” with a pup (7 months and older). and take it home.

Adoption fees are waived for the next few days of the promotion Find your perfect match thanks to the support of the non-profit organization Petco Love.

According to the Humane Society, there are currently about 220 dogs ready and waiting for adoption.

For people who can’t adopt a dog, there are other ways to help:

  • Volunteer to temporarily house a pet in your home, freeing up much-needed space at the shelter. The shelter can help new foster volunteers through the process. Visit sdhumane.org/foster.
  • Try to seek help before taking your pet to the shelter. The San Diego Humane Society has resources to help families keep their pets during difficult times. Visit sdhumane.org/supportservices.
  • Help reunite lost pets with their families. Many stray pets are close to home, so if you find strays in your neighborhood, there are steps you can take to reunite them directly with their owners, avoiding a trip to the shelter. Visit sdhumane.org/found.

The San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm, at its locations in San Diego, Escondido, El Cajon, and Oceanside.
