On Thursday (local time), the San Antonio Spurs celebrated their 12th National Basketball Association (NBA) win of the season. They won 122-115 against the New York Knicks. Jakob Pöltl contributed nine points, twelve rebounds and two assists each, as well as blocks in 28:33 minutes on the field.
“We played well together, developed a clear lead and in the end we brought it home with a lot of effort,” said the 27-year-old Viennese, commenting on the win.
The Texans had taken the lead at 91:74 two minutes before the end of the third quarter. The Knicks had to leave the field underdogs for the fifth time in a row, despite Julius Randle’s season best with 41 points. Keldon Johnson was the leading scorer for the Spurs, who host the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, with 30 points.
Doncic’s next triple double
San Antonio’s next opponent star Luka Doncic also recorded a triple-double against the Houston Rockets after his NBA high. At 129:114, the Slovenian recorded 35 points, 13 assists and twelve rebounds. The Boston Celtics celebrated their fourth straight victory with a 116:110 victory over the LA Clippers. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum each scored 29 points for the league leaders.
