San Antonio Oeste mobilized so that the search for the missing fisherman does not cease

The community of the Rio Negro town of San Antonio Oeste mobilized to demand that the search for Matías Roco, the 22-year-old young man who has been missing for almost a month, not cease when the boat ‘Paola Andrea’ sank near Caleta de los Parrots.

The march of silence that toured the streets of the city was massive and moved to the local delegation of the Argentine Naval Prefecture and ended at the headquarters of the Municipality.

Jesús Roco, the father of the disappeared fisherman, led the mobilization and delivered a note to the PNA authorities in which he urged them to deepen the searches with more technological equipment. In the next few hours, authorities from the North Argentine Sea Zone would arrive in San Antonio Oeste.

In the letter to the naval security force, he expresses: “I am Jesús María Roco and I am writing to you to inform you of the situation I am going through. On February 9 of this year, my son Jesús Matías Roco was on the boat that capsized and subsequently sank, in the area of Caleta de los Loros between the Port of San Antonio Este and Viedma, province of Río Negro, as a result of his disappearance and not having found him yet”, says the letter that was received by the Principal prefect, Daniel Martínez.

“I request to continue the search, with the necessary means, since in the place the depth ranges between 45 and 120 meters and it must be done with a Coast Guard with a special survey and more technology, to find the boat, since Matías would possibly be stuck in it”, he expresses about what he considers to be the reason why he still could not be found.

The young fisherman’s family anticipated that they will continue to manage the arrival of surface means with greater underwater tracking capacity and announced that next Friday there will be a night march, with candles, to continue demanding that the search not cease.

The case for the shipwreck that occurred on February 9 is being processed before the Federal Court of Viedma, and a statement has not yet been taken from the three rescued castaways Guillermo Coullán, Ezequiel Pil and Lisandro Pil, all natives of SAO; They also did not make contact with the relatives of the remaining crew member, according to Matías Roco’s father.
