After two years without being able to celebrate the Fallas, San Antonio de Benagéber is preparing to enjoy them again in style. The festivities will be held in compliance with all current health measures to guarantee the safety of citizens; however, the celebration will be very similar to those before the pandemic.
The first act will take place next Sunday, February 27, with the traditional Crida. At 1:00 p.m., in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the Falleras Mayores of the four municipal commissions will kick off the falleros acts with their speeches together with the mayor, who will also address the population. The Ninot exhibition will then be inaugurated, arranged in the square’s glass cubes. At 2:00 p.m., the first mascletà of the Failures 2022 in the area of the dog park on Sequer street.
On Saturday, March 5, the festivities will continue with the popular Fallero Train, which will start at 6:30 p.m. from c/Alcarava and will run through various streets of our municipality.
After the plantà, on March 16 the jury will visit the Fallas to assess the Fallas monuments. At 6:30 p.m., in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the awards ceremony will be held, a ceremony in which the prizes of the contests held in 2020 before the cancellation of the Fallas will also be awarded.
March 19 will be the big day of the Fallas. At 12 noon there will be a mass in honor of San José in the San Antonio Abad parish. Immediately afterwards, the offering of flowers to the Virgin will begin in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, which will conclude again with a mascletà in Sequer street.
From 8:00 p.m. until the end of the night, the Cremà will take place, starting with the children’s Fallas and ending with the Falla winner of the first prize. In this way, the Fallas 2022 will come to an end.
Both the four Fallas commissions of the municipality and its Fallas Local Board, together with the City Council, feel excited and excited to be able to resume this festival that means so much to them and to the associative activity of the municipality.
To present the programming of the acts, the consistory has once again recovered the traditional poster contest for the Fallas commissions. The fallas of San Antonio de Benagéber have been able to participate by presenting a poster design each, and this year, the winning poster has been that of the Falla Túria – Plaça de l’Ajuntament, whose title is Un selfie per a la història.
According to the descriptive text of the project “From the modernity of the camera to the historical and cultural representation of the border, passing through the illusion of resuming our party and the brotherhood that characterizes us so much; that is the FALLAS, which more than a party They are a feeling.”
