The town beat Peñarol 3 to 1 and qualified for the Regional Federal Amateur tournament
–
Villa San Antonio fulfilled the main objective of inscribing its name in the next Regional Federal Amateur tournament, on behalf of the Salteña League, by defeating Atlético Peñarol yesterday by 3 to 1, on the League 1 court and in the rematches of the semi-final instances of the Qualifying tournament.
Villa in the first leg had beaten Mirasol 4-0, so yesterday, faced with the obligation of the rival to want to reverse the result against it, it encountered some complications. It was like this that Peñarol, through Rodrigo Morinigo and with a blow to the head, took the lead and made his team excited.
But “Titi” Jesús Calderón was in charge of reaching the tie for San Antonio with a shot that made the reaction of goalkeeper Ojito Flores sterile, to put the figures in a transitory draw at 1 goal.
San Antonio’s work grew, although it was favored by the expulsion of midfielder Gonzalo Say, from Peñarol, who was left with 10 players.
The Peñarol players, despite the numerical disadvantage, insisted on going to the front of the scoreboard, but it played against physical wear and tear. Then, San Antonio took advantage of this opponent’s stay to convert the second goal through Julián López.
Willing to sell the defeat dearly, Peñarol did not give up and tried to show a closing with honor, and that attitude harmed him because San Antonio cannot be given any advantage, to the point that once again Julián López took charge in close the account with a 3 to 1 in favor.
The forcefulness of San Antonio since the championship began was a lethal weapon. This was demonstrated during the initial stage and on the way to the play-offs there was no respite to round off a campaign that justifies the achievement achieved.
Now the Villa only needs to define with the winner of the other semifinal (San Martín-Miter), from where the finalist of the Qualifier will come out.
