The “little guy from Sainte-Gertrude” Samuel Montembeault was honored by the Montreal Canadiens hockey club on Tuesday night before the game against the New Jersey Devils. He is the recipient of the Molson Cup for the January segment.
Montembeault became the first goaltender in team history to make 48 or more saves in two consecutive meetings (January 18 in Dallas and January 20 in Las Vegas). In nine games in January, the 25-year-old goalie went 1-3-2, holding an .889 save percentage and a 4.43 goals-against average.
