Samuel Mbangula, the small Belgian without complexes who benefits from the Motta revolution at Juventus

Brussels native, young Samuel was spotted at a very young age by Club Bruges. He trained there from the age of 11 to 16, before completing his training with Sporting d’Anderlecht.

The international sirens soon sounded. Juventus Turin came for him when he was just 17 years old. He then climbed the ranks, until obtaining a professional contract in March 2022, and joining Juventus Next Gen (which plays in Serie C) in July 2023.

Officially still part of the Next Gen version of the club, the young miniature striker was offered a chance by Thiago Motta, Juve’s new coach, when he took over the club last July. Mbangula therefore participated in the preparation for the new season with the A team, and even received a golden opportunity in the first match of the season on Monday, as he was given a starting place. A decision strongly contested by some supporters and observers of the club, it must be said that the Belgian was stealing the show from some big names and big transfers coming in. Not enough to slow down Motta, who is determined to restore Juve to its former glory. And the day after this first match “with the big boys”, the young player’s detractors have been left a little silent.

Alongside his club career, Samuel has been part of the national team’s age groups since he was 15 and has been performing there ever since. He is part of the promising 2004 generation, just like Roméo Lavia in particular. He is currently playing with the U21s, for whom he has been selected three times, without scoring a goal.
