Samuel Mbangula has Congolese roots, and given the competition on the wings in Belgium, who knows what the future holds for him? But there is no question of the Juventus player blackmailing the Red Devils.
Some already imagined Samuel Mbangula (20 years old) with the Red Devils, despite only three matches in the A team with Juventus. “You always hope when the selection falls but to be honest, I don’t think I would have deserved it,” assures the Juve winger, present in Tubize before the Diablotins’ match in Kazakhstan.
“Is it for soon? You have to ask the coach. Right now, I’m with the Espoirs and that suits me very well,” Mbangula continues. “Even if some see a certain potential in me, I still have to prove that I deserve my place in the longer term.”
However, Julien Duranville was called up to the A team very quickly. “He’s been with Dortmund’s A team longer than me, even if he hasn’t been spared from injuries,” says Samuel Mbangula. “Julien, we know his qualities, he’s an exceptional player. He’s a special case.”
But if Belgium does not select him quickly enough for the A team, could we see Mbangula opt for the Democratic Republic of Congo, the country where his family comes from? “I have not had the slightest call from Congo,” he says.
“I’ve played in all the youth teams in Belgium, I feel very good there, I know the players, the project, the system… For the moment, I’m not asking myself that question at all,” concludes Samuel Mbangula.
