Samsung’s periscope camera is expected to appear in iPhone 13

It’s only been a few weeks since Apple launched the new iPhone 12 series, but there are already reports of next-generation smartphones. DigiTimes report it saysthat the company is looking to partner with South Korean brands to improve the optical zoom of the iPhone 13.

The main partner is expected to be Samsung… The company has already used a so-called periscope lens on its flagship smartphones, which has achieved a 100x magnification of the image. Periscopic cameras provide a longer focal length in a smartphone lens. Instead of placing the sensor directly under the lens, these cameras use prisms and mirrors to reflect and focus light on the sensor. Currently, there is an improved photography capability in Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultraas well as in Huawei P40 Pro and OPPO Find X2 Pro.

The source reminds that Samsung acquired the company Corephotonis, which developed the scaling technology for smartphones. By the way, the Israeli company had previously sued Samsung and Apple for patent infringement on telephoto zoom technology. Now that the company is owned by Samsung, patents are also owned by Samsung. Experts believe that this fact will force Apple to partner with the South Korean giant to obtain technology for its products.

However, it is not yet clear that the two companies have struck a deal over a periscope lens. Even if Apple and Samsung collaborate, it remains to be seen whether the iPhone 13 series will get a re-scope camera or not. Also, do not forget that before was information that half of the new cameras for Apple will be produced by the South Korean company Semco. This option also has a right to exist.
