At an event in New York, Samsung revealed the latest model in its Galaxy S24 series: the mid-range Galaxy S24 FE. The S24 FE is shaping up to be a well-rounded, relatively affordable smartphone that could make potential iPhone 16 buyers think twice.
Indeed, this Galaxy FE will be slightly different from previous generations. It will benefit from significant improvements compared to its predecessors. In fact, many of its features are taken directly from the more powerful S24s.
The Galaxy S24 FE has a larger screen, several Galaxy AI features, and a similar camera module to the basic Galaxy S24.
What makes the new Galaxy S24 FE different?
As previously mentioned, the Galaxy S24 FE features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display, dwarfing the base Galaxy S24’s 6.2-inch screen and bringing it more in line with the S24 Plus model. Samsung also saw fit to increase the battery capacity to 4,700 mAh (up from 4,500 mAh), extending the battery life to a rated maximum of 81 hours on a single charge.
The tech giant also made some questionable compromises. Instead of a Qualcomm processor, Samsung gave the S24 FE a less proven Exynos 2400 SoC. It’s harder to gauge the phone’s performance, but we don’t expect a massive drop, so don’t worry. As for the camera, the new model retains the 50MP wide-angle and 12MP ultra-wide-angle rear lenses.

However, the selfie camera and telephoto lens have increased to 10MP and 8MP respectively. Samsung makes up for this by introducing a new photography feature on the S24 FE called ProVisual Engine. This uses “AI algorithms” to improve image quality.
What the Galaxy S24 FE and Galaxy S24 have in common
Most notable are the AI-powered features. These include Circle to Find, Notes Wizard for summarizing audio recordings, and Generative Sketch for creative photo arrangements. Samsung Knox is there to protect sensitive information.
Finally, the Galaxy S24 FE benefits from “7 generations of operating system upgrades” and 7 years of security updates, putting it on par with what Google offers on its recent Pixel smartphones.
The Galaxy S24 FE is available on the Samsung online store, starting at €749, in four colors: blue, black, sea green and yellow.
