Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 isn’t supposed to get so many updates – Reuters

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has already moved to its quarterly update schedule and countdown to no longer being supported. Yet seeing updates continue to roll out so frequently surprises us to this day. In fact, Samsung is doing much better than quarterly.

For this month, the Galaxy Note 9 on Verizon is obtain updated with Android March security patch and build QP1A.190711.020.N960USQS9FVC5. The only change listed is that it “provides the latest Android security patches”, so don’t consider this a camera or performance enhancer.

However, this is the fourth update in five months for the Galaxy Note 9. Again, it moved to a quarterly schedule in September last year, only to get updates in December, January, February and now April. For such an old phone that’s not supposed to be supported like this, you just have to take your hat off to Samsung.

Support for updates should end for the Note 9 this fall when it hits that 4th anniversary, unless Samsung lashed out at us and decided to give it another year. We know that newer Samsung devices get a 5th year of updates, but the Note 9 isn’t built for that.
