As announced at CES 2023, Samsung is kicking off the year with the launch of the Galaxy A14 5G. The newborn from the A series will offer the brand’s less well-off customers very significant technical performance, all in a reinforced chassis.
Samsung indicates that the new device will be sold around 230 euros in France. Which literally makes it the company’s latest ultra-affordable smartphone. We note the presence of a new 1080 p screen which contrasts with that of the A13.
Samsung manages to bring something new while reducing costs
We did not necessarily expect a revolution with the Galaxy 14 5G. Samsung didn’t just take the Galaxy A13 and turn it into a new device, though. Certainly, we find on the A14 5G the same MediaTek processor and a RAM memory that can be 4 GB or 6 GB. But the similarities end there.
The South Korean manufacturer has brought a few new things to its latest A-series device, starting with its screen. The company has thus chosen to abandon the 720 p screen of the Galaxy A13 for another. Its successor instead features a 1080p screen, with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. This should enhance user immersion.
In addition to the new screen from which the Galaxy A14 5G inherits, there is a more refined design. This aspect is not traditionally the strong point of the A-series for cost reasons. Nevertheless, the new smartphone has a reinforced chassis that impresses.
Samsung has indeed abandoned the curved plastic of the A13. The new, flatter edges of the A14’s chassis provide a nicer grip as AP’s Taylor Kerns attests during his CES presentation. On this point, the A14 does much better than all its predecessors. And surprise, despite the choice of a new, more efficient screen as well as a new, more resistant and refined chassis, the A14 retains its competitiveness at the price level. It is even cheaper than the A13.

Galaxy A14 5G available in retail stores and online as an unlocked model
With its interesting options, the A14 presents itself as a first choice device for those who wish to afford a smartphone at a low price at the start of the year. Which is good since the smartphone is already available for sale on different stores and from different operators. Users will furthermore be able to order them directly through the manufacturer’s website to receive it unlocked in advance. The only black point of the A14 will be its color. Samsung has not made the choice of several colors and keeps black.
Users who will not be thrilled with this new device can still wait until January 18. Indeed, the South Korean manufacturer should proceed with the launch of the Galaxy A54, successor to the A53 put on sale last year. This future A-series device promises big new features with a new reworked design, a better range of cameras and other technical specifics that will be worth a look.
