Under The unpacked event today, Samsung unveiled a whole range of new Galaxy products. The two phones, Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3, were served together with Galaxy Buds 2, Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. All products will be available for purchase in Norway from 27 August.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 comes in two versions, with 128 GB and 256 GB of storage. The recommended retail price in this country is NOK 11,490 and NOK 11,990, respectively. In other words, they are well below the Galaxy Z Flip from 2020 in price.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 is also available in two versions, but these with 256 GB and 512 GB of storage. These will not be quite as affordable as the Z Flip 3, but will still be somewhat below the originally recommended retail price of the predecessor Z Flip 2 with their NOK 19,490 (256 GB) and NOK 20,490 (512 GB), respectively.
This year’s models have received a number of improvements, the most startling of which is that they are both water resistant. Both Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 have IPX8 certification, which means they can be underwater, deeper than 1 meter (normally up to 3 meters) for up to 30 minutes at a time. Samsung also promises that the build quality of the phones in general will be better, which is made clear, for example, by the use of Corning Victus glass in the front. The improved screen has now also been given a protective film that will make the phones 80% more durable than their predecessors.
Both Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 use Snapdragon 888 5G, which promises well if you love games, multitasking and other demanding tasks. The screens in both models have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and should be 29% brighter, and support 1x eSIM and 2x micro-SIM.

Galaxy Z Fold 3
The Galazy Z Fold 3 stands out by being the first foldable phone to have a camera under the screen. This means that the camera is hidden under the pixels in the display panel, so you can avoid any interference (camera bumps, screen notches), and can simply take pictures with a phone without a visible camera. This is a feature we are very excited about how it works in practice. Especially since the camera under the screen is 4 MP, while its predecessors had a selfie camera of 10 MP.
Z Fold 3 will also be Samsung’s first foldable phone to support the S Pen. Users of the new mobile get two choices: S Pen Pro or S Pen Fold Edition, where the latter is a slightly shorter variant with fewer features, which only works with Z Fold 3.
Samsung has also made it easier to adapt apps to the foldable screen. Now users can decide the size of the apps via Samsung Labs, making it easier to create their own layout and multitask with multiple apps on the screen at the same time.

The Galazy Z Fold 3 measures 158.2 mm x 67.1 mm x 16 mm, and is actually slightly narrower and shorter than its predecessor, the Z Fold 2 (which measures 159.2 mm x 68 mm x 16.8 mm.) The battery is 4400 mAh, a little hair less than its predecessor 4500 mAh. At the same time, a better processor should ensure that the difference is not completely large (we obviously hope that the battery life is a little better.)
The cameras in the Z Fold 3 consist of three 12 MP variants on the back. A main camera with Dual Pixel AF at f / 1.8, an ultra-wide angle camera at f / 2.2 and a telecamera with 2x optical zoom at f / 2.4. All cameras have their own protection in the form of something Samsung calls Super Clear Glass, which involves the use of Gorilla Glass DX. This will ensure that the lenses hold up well, without affecting the images.
Z Fold 3 also has a 10 MP camera that sits on the front of the phone (when closed.) Yes, maybe a little confusing, but the model has cameras both on the front, inside and on the back.
The 256 GB and 512 GB variants both have 12 GB of RAM, and have, as mentioned above, IPX8 certification, which in practice means that you can go swimming with your mobile phone in your pocket, without any major consequences.

Galaxy Z Flip 3
The Galazy Z Flip 3 has a larger Super AMOLED screen on the outside, something Samsung calls “Cover Display.” This panel is actually four times as large in this year’s model, and is now 1.9 inches. The main screen is 6.7 inches and uses a so-called Dynamic AMOLED X2 panel. The resolution is Full HD + (2640 x 1080.)
Z Flip 3 has also got stereo speakers this year, which is a welcome change, given that last year’s model only had one speaker.
When folded, the phone measures 72.2 mm x 86.4 mm x 17.1 mm-15.9 mm (it is thicker at the end that is folded.) If you fold it out, it measures 72.2 mm x 166 mm x 69 mm, and the weight is 183 grams.
Both the 128 GB and 256 GB models come with 8 GB of RAM, and the cameras in the Z Flip 3 appear to be very similar to their predecessors (unless they are the same.)
On the back you get a main camera with Dual Pixel AF and OIS of 12 MP, with an aperture of f / 1.8, as well as an ultra-wide angle camera of 12 MP and an aperture of f / 2.2.
In the front you will find a camera of 10 MP and f / 2.4. This can be used in pairs with the front screen. This means that you can use the screen as a viewfinder, and take photos and selfies without having to “unfold” the phone first.
The battery holds 3300 mAh, in other words just as much as in its predecessor. The Z Flip 3 is also waterproof, to the same extent as the Z Fold 3, with its IPX8 certification.

Z Flip 3 has also got a so-called Flex Panel function, which means that the screen can be used even if the phone is not completely unfolded. In practice, this means that you can, for example, have a video call (without holding it) by folding it halfway up and placing it on a table. The phone itself realizes that it has to display the active chat window at the top of the screen, while volume buttons and brightness adjustments jump down to the lower half.

Galaxy Watch 4 og Galaxy Watch 4 Classic
Samsung today also launched two new Galaxy Watch 4 models, namely Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The latter model is somewhat larger and is made of steel, which makes it look and feel more like a more traditional wristwatch. Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is available in 42 mm and 46 mm.
When it comes to the Galaxy Watch 4 itself, there is a lot here that is similar to its predecessor in design. This model has a watch case made of aluminum, and is available in sizes 40 mm and 44 mm.
Both Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic will have more sensors this year than in previous models, so now the watches can measure the heart rate both optically and electronically. At the same time, Samsung has got space for a completely new sensor that can measure bioelectrical impedance – this is used to measure fat percentage and muscle mass.
New this year is also that you can answer or reject calls by turning or shaking your wrist, respectively. In terms of battery life, the watches should last for up to 40 hours, according to Samsung, while a charging cycle from 0% to 100% is completed in two hours.
If you buy an LTE model, you do not need to use your mobile phone to get the watch online, which can be something to keep in mind if you plan to use the watch for, for example, running in the woods and fields.
According to Samsung, this year’s models have become very advanced in terms of health and fitness functionality.
Galaxy Watch 4 is equipped with Samsung’s new so-called BioActive Sensor, which in practice is three sensors in one. Using a single microchip, the watch keeps track of three different health sensors that can measure heart rate, provide an ECG (electrocardiogram) – and for the first time, the Galaxy Watch can now measure your body composition via a bioelectrical impedance analysis. This allows users to monitor blood pressure, heart rate (ECG) and oxygen saturation in the blood.

Galaxy Buds2
—
The new Galaxy Buds 2 comes with a compact charging case, and has a noise reduction which according to Samsung should be able to filter up to 98% of the sound from the surroundings, so you can enjoy, for example, music in peace and quiet.
When it comes to the so-called Ambient Sound function, you get three different levels, so that it is easier to adapt to the activity you are doing. If you cycle around the city, for example, you may want to hear some of your fellow road users.
Galaxy Buds 2 is also equipped with a function that ensures that you are connected to the correct Galaxy device automatically (if you have several.) This means in practice that the sound, for example, will automatically jump from a video you play on a tablet over to your mobile phone in case you get a phone call.
You can even adjust settings (including EQ) on your computer with the Galaxy Wearable application.
