The head of the mobile division of the South Korean manufacturer has now assured everyone that, despite the fact that this type of protection has not been given to the latest models, the company is very much looking to introduce it as soon as possible.
Just like their predecessors, the latest Samsung mobiles with bendable displays are only protected against water, in accordance with the IPX8 rating, although dust can cause enormous damage to the hinge mechanics inside the devices.
The head of Samsung’s mobile division, TM Roh, says the company is working hard to figure out how to make bendable smartphones dustproof. If we can believe him, and why shouldn’t we, then the intention was definitely there for this generation as well, but the implementation did not come together.

According to a senior Samsung employee, more time is needed to develop the best solution to protect these devices from dust. He did not deny at all that the company is aware of the consumer’s needs in this regard, and he also promised that they would make the necessary efforts to implement it.
At the same time, we must also be aware that no small feat of engineering is required for the implementation, because bendable smartphones have many fine, moving parts, and of course they should all be protected from the penetration of particles.
However, TM Roh supported his absolutely hopeful and optimistic attitude with the argument that Samsung’s very first bendable mobile phone was not even waterproof, but then a few generations later this protection was added to the list of specifications.
According to him, Samsung has set a new standard for bendable devices in this sense. The distinguished gentleman’s conclusion is that we will experience a similar development in the field of dust resistance, and then he asked everyone in his press conference for the Korean media to be patient about the matter for the time being.
