Samsung has moved to a new threshold of video capture with the phone in 2020, with the launch of the Galaxy S20 series. The phones have support for 8K video capture at 24 FPS and a 5-minute limitation to avoid overheating. The S21 range also shoots in 24 FPS, but new rumors and leaks show that Galaxy S22 prototypes are already being tested, with filmare 8K la 60 FPS.
The rumor Mauri QHD writes that the Galaxy S22 series suffers from overheating, and for this reason filming 8K at 60 FPS will be limited to 30 FPS. It would be a bit overkill considering that 8K TVs have not yet entered the mainstream and we do not have stations that broadcast in 8K. In addition, it is a matter of space, because 1 minute of 8K filming takes up 600 MB. And the memory must write data at higher speeds to cope with the bandwidth associated with such a capture.
Colleague Alex informs us in unboxing and first impressions of the Galaxy S21 + that phone “hang on“when shooting 8K visibly. There are also enough users on Reddit who they complain about overheating when shooting 8K with S21 phones. However, Samsung has the memory needed to get rid of technological limitations and the Exynos 2100 is already better than the Exynos 990 in terms of cooling.
We are now waiting for a new Exynos CPU to support this type of capture, with a new ISP in the package. Evil mouths say we may have to wait until 2023 for that. Apple in the meantime would be ready to bring 8K video at 45 FPS and with stabilization on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
