Samsung would develop a foldable smartphone for less than 1,000 euros!

For years, we kept talking about the foldable smartphone projects of different brands. And in 2019, the first models finally hit the market. Currently, Samsung can be considered the leader in foldable smartphones.

After unveiling the Galaxy Fold in 2019, the Korean giant launched the Galaxy Z Flip earlier this year. And recently, at the Galaxy Note 20 event, it also presented the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

But for now, while Samsung already offers a good variety of models, the real problem with foldable smartphones is their prices. Even the Galaxy Z Flip, on which Samsung seems to have made some concessions on the technical sheet, costs more than 1,000 euros.

Soon, an affordable model?

The good news is that more and more sources are indicating that Samsung is making more affordable foldable smartphones. Previously, we discussed rumors that the company is working on a “Lite” version of the Galaxy Fold. It would be a smartphone / tablet hybrid like the Galaxy Fold or the Galaxy Z Fold 2. But thanks to some sacrifices on the technical sheet, this model would be offered at a lower price.

And this week, an article from our colleagues at Sammobile mentions another affordable foldable smartphone. It would be a foldable, clamshell smartphone like the Galaxy Z Flip, but it could be priced under $ 1,000, and possibly under $ 1,000 in Europe. Unfortunately, Sammobile doesn’t share many details about this device, other than the fact that there would be an option with 64 GB of memory, and another with 128 GB, and that this model would be available in three colors: black, green and blue.

Of course, for the moment, this information should still be viewed with extreme caution. However, it should be noted that from the launch of the first foldable smartphones, we wondered when this type of device could be available for less than 1,000 euros.

Moreover, another manufacturer, Huawei, has already mentioned the possibility of offering smartphones below this symbolic bar, when the production of foldable screens will increase and costs will fall. But the statement came before the announcement of U.S. sanctions against the Chinese brand, which may have since revised its plans.
