A report reveals plans Samsung for 2022 in the smartphone sector wants to ship 334 million units of smartphones worldwide.

Samsung is set to produce 285 million units of smartphones in-house, while shifting production of another 49 million units to the company’s manufacturing partners.

It should be noted that Samsung almost doubled its foldable smartphone production where this year Samsung produced 7 million smartphone units. In more detail, 4 million of the 13 million units are the Galaxy Z Fold, and 9 million are the Galaxy Z Flip.

The report also states that Samsung aims to ship 176 million units of Entry phones, the name for its low-end Smartphones.

Not only that, Samsung also plans to ship 176 million units of low-end smartphones. While in the middle class segment, Samsung will ship 91 million units and 8 million of them are the highest-level offering phones from its middle class line.

2022 will be the first time since 2017 Samsung targeting to ship more than 300 million Smartphone units.

However, the smartphone giant is likely to face some obstacles in this roadmap, with Vietnamese manufacturing facilities temporarily halting production due to the ongoing pandemic and with the world facing a global shortage of chips.
