Samsung unexpectedly releases software update for Galaxy S7, soon to be five years old

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are no longer officially supported by the company Samsung… When a security update for these devices was unexpectedly released in March, many thought it was an isolated incident. However, Samsung released a software update for them again today.

Recall that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were presented at the beginning of 2016, that is, they are almost five years old. They originally ran Android 6 and retired with Android 8. However, users in the UK and Canada received the September 2020 security update. The patch weighs 70 MB and is likely to be rolled out to other regions soon. According to the accompanying documentation, the latest update improves the performance and stability of smartphones, fixes some bugs and security issues.

Recall that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were released in two versions: with the Exynos 8890 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, which worked in conjunction with 4 GB of RAM. Smartphones were equipped with a 12 megapixel single main camera familiar at that time, which stood out for good image quality in the dark.
