Here is something to add a little fuel to the fire vis-à-vis the production of graphics cards at the Greens, with a slight response to some gossip about unsatisfactory performance at Samsung factories. Indeed, the founder would have negotiated a second deal with NVIDIA in order to produce the next Ampere GPUs of the SUPER range, which in itself is not surprising since it is likely that it will only be a simple price replacement of GPU vis-à-vis the competition. However, there is nothing surprising about this statement, we find it hard to see NVIDIA switching foundry along the way, knowing that TSMC’s backlog is already full.
So, why put forward this deal? Most likely to silence rumors from the competition that the performance of chip production is unsatisfactory, showing NVIDIA’s confidence in Samsung to produce its RTX 3000 SUPER or not. A logical counterattack, with the expertise and quality of Samsung and the speed in providing green GPUs as an explanation. However, the observation remains the same: stocks are still extremely rare, prices are inflated by the laws of the market and we see every day new excuses and accusations from everyone involved in the shortage of graphics cards.
Still, performance issues haven’t been trivial lately, and it’s not unlikely that the complexity of Ampere cards equipped with RTX and Tensor Core will add to the hype – which increases demand – and demand. Covid-19 which still affects the industry. So is this indeed a bad alignment of the stars, where some show bad faith? It is very likely that we do not have a complete answer, in the meantime let’s continue to consult our favorite crystal pellet. (source : Kedglobal)
