Samsung sets a new standard with four generations of OS updates to ensure the best Galaxy experience

Samsung announces that select Galaxy devices are now getting four generations of One UI and Android OS updates. Millions of Galaxy users around the world have access to optimal security, productivity and ease of use.

This improved standard builds on Samsung’s earlier promise to provide up to three generations of upgrades. For starters, the updates will be available on the latest Galaxy S, Z and A series smartphones, as well as the latest tablets, Samsung plans to expand this effort to its various product lines within the Galaxy ecosystem. Samsung also provides up to four years of updates for One UI Watch and Wear OS Powered by Samsung, so users can enjoy the latest Galaxy Watch experiences.

In addition to offering extended One UI updates, Samsung will now provide up to five years of security updates to protect its latest devices. Once linked to the Samsung Knox security platform, devices are optimally protected against potential threats. Additionally, Samsung Galaxy Enterprise Edition customers will receive a one-year license for Samsung Knox Suite solutions to easily deploy and manage devices with access to a dashboard that tracks security updates.[1].

Eligible Galaxy devices with four generations of One UI and five years of security updates are:

  • Galaxy S Series: Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra as well as Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, S21 FE and future S series devices
  • Galaxy Z Series: Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3 the next Z series devices
  • Galaxy A Series: some upcoming A-series devices
  • Galaxy tablets: Galaxy TabS8, S8+, S8 Ultra and upcoming Tab S series devices

Eligible Galaxy devices with up to four years of One UI Watch and Wear OS Powered by Samsung warranty are:

  • Galaxy Watch: Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch4 Classic and upcoming Galaxy Watch series devices

Samsung believes in providing Galaxy users with the latest possible mobile experiences. Galaxy devices that do not have the hardware specifications required to benefit from four generations of One UI upgrades can still support up to three generations of One UI upgrades.
