Samsung will show the new S23 series already on February 1 at an event in San Francisco. As the event date approaches, leakers are racing to release more and more information. For example, renderings of how the phones will look, leaked several independently in recent days, including Samsung promo photos. But the design has been known for a long time, so we have not learned anything revolutionary in this direction.
However, one piece of information is very interesting and confirms some earlier speculations that the top model S23 Ultra will offer a new high-end photography mode. Samsung has now confirmed that this will probably be the case. He is already inviting customers to reserve a device on his American website, without specifying which one it will be. But it will be the next, i.e. not yet presented, product.
The American customer will get a discount of up to one hundred dollars (roughly 2,300 crowns), interest-free financing and will also be able to choose from special colors that will only be offered through the web store. Which, by the way, is also a confirmation of one of the previous speculations.
However, the invitation reveals the essentials, i.e. the embedded short video with the slogan Made for moonlight, where the three letters mean the three main lenses of the Samsung S23 Ultra. The text in the video then mentions night photography with excellent results. And it is this function (or improvement) that should be the fundamental innovation of the S23 Ultra camera. Otherwise, conceptually, the camera setup should not fundamentally differ from last year’s S22 Ultra. But at least the main sensor will be different, namely the Isocell HP2 with a resolution of 200 Mpix, a pixel size of 0.6 μm and a size of 1/1.3 inch. Yes, Samsung already produces two other 200Mpix sensors, but this one is completely new and has the best parameters.
How exactly night photography will work is not yet known. Even if this function will be available for all main sensors or only for one of them. We will know the details on February 1, or maybe even earlier. The function was already mentioned by the Ice Universe leaker and it is quite possible that he will show off the details even before the premiere.
