Samsung S23 or Xiaomi 13, the competition is raging!

The Samsung S23, maximum power in a mini format

With its Galaxy S23, Samsung is returning to the high-end segment with new weapons in its basket. First of all, an overpowered Snapdragon 8 generation 2 operating system which should overcome the weaknesses of its predecessor the S22 (autonomy and heating of the device) but also some innovations which make this new smartphone an ideal leader to fight in the realm of raw or graphics performance.

In terms of design, the S23 has nothing to envy to the S22: still as pleasant and comfortable in the hand, perfect finishes and Samsung’s know-how to produce the most beautiful screens in the world is well established. Some changes are made such as the photo module which disappears to make way for 3 separate lenses and whose integration is very aesthetic, a slightly less curved shell and the volume buttons have been moved a few millimeters higher. Very successful and endowed with a featherweight, the S23 has a resolutely magnificent aesthetic!

On the technical side, the Du S23 screen offers a very fluid full HD+ definition (2340 x 1080 pixels). You won’t be surprised if I tell you that the S23’s screen is a real pleasure to use: extreme fluidity, plurality of colors, responsiveness, speed of execution. What more ?

Take great pictures? This is also possible with the S23. The formula remains the same as for the S22, wide and ultra wide angle lenses, x3 optics, night mode (x1/x3), portrait mode (x1/x3), selfie mode (x1/x3), all these lenses having made the reputation of the Korean brand’s smartphones.

The Xiaomi 13, the best pro from Xiaomi!

Also equipped with the Snapdragon 8 gen 2, Xiaomi has decided to beef up and strengthen its new generation of smartphones. But in a smartphone, it’s not just the processor that counts and Xiaomi has been able to integrate many features, WQHD + screen, 120Hz, 120W charge, 1-inch sensor for photography and a telephoto lens for example.

The design of the device can be described as “old school” and where competitors use new materials, Xiaomi has chosen to equip its smartphone in a more classic material (and prone to fingerprints). The good news is that Xiaomi passes the 13 pro on an IP 68 certification which makes it completely waterproof. A little heavier and thicker than its predecessors, the X13 loses little in comfort of use.

Admittedly, this one seems more solid and more successful than the previous models, but it is also less pleasant in the hand. As said above, we are here in a more classic design with curved screen and back coating the facade, but it is important to emphasize the quality of the finishes. The screen is fluid and pleasant and reacts quickly to tactile requests.

The functionalities are easy to access and the improvement of the smartphone interface allows you to make many modifications where customization is the key word.

The camera includes a main lens, ultra wide angle, telephoto, selfie or portrait mode as well as night mode. A level of detail and very pleasant lights. Xiaomi gives you the choice in colorimetry by offering two options Leica vibrant and Leica authentic, the second offering a more natural rendering. Sometimes uneven depending on the mode chosen and the conditions in which the photos are taken, the Xiaomi 13 remains efficient in this area.

In terms of graphics performance, energy and daily use, there is nothing to complain about and the Xiaomi 13 largely stands up to comparison with smartphones in the same range, which is to say the best there is!!

Our Verdict

The S23 seems to offer better value for money in many areas. Despite everything, the Xiaomi 13 remains a high-quality smartphone with other potential. Only the selling price of the two devices can make the difference…

These two devices are offered at fairly high prices, representing a significant investment for ordinary mortals. But the good news is that you can buy them at a preferential price or in installment payment by subscribing to a new mobile plan with Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom or Free in particular.
