TANTRUM – It is rumored that Samsung will no longer use the designation of the Z series for its foldable smartphones and will refer to the two phones as Samsung Galaxy Fold4 and Galaxy Flip4 for some European countries.
The change was reported by Gizmo China, Tuesday (2/8/2022), originating from information that says there is no longer the letter Z on the boxes of Samsung’s latest folding phones.
The reason Samsung removed the letter Z from its products was as a step to avoid accusations and to anticipate that the company would not be involved with the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
According to technology leaker Snoopytech, taken from Republika, Thursday, August 4, 2022, it is known that the Russian military uses the letter Z as a symbol of its existence in the fight against Ukraine and therefore Samsung has decided to no longer call their foldable smartphone series the Galaxy Z.
This information is reinforced by the circulation of images showing a Russian military vehicle that has the symbol Z even though it looks not very clear.
Some netizens think that the Z symbol refers to the abbreviation of the word ‘za pobedu’ which means victory.
The deletion of the Z series name is confirmed to have begun in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. The same is true for the new Galaxy Fold 3 and Flip3 phones, which no longer have a capital Z as a marker for Samsung’s foldable smartphone series.
Samsung will soon introduce the Galaxy Flip 4 and Fold 4 on August 10 at the Samsung unpacked event.
The foldable phone is expected to bring significant improvements in terms of display, battery and performance. Both devices are rumored to be equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
