Samsung is preparing for the arrival of new foldable smartphone models by officially recording the ‘Galaxy Z’ series in Australia and Europe.
Two years ago, the Galaxy Fold introduced as the first foldable smartphone from the Korean manufacturer. Afterwards, Samsung released two more foldable phone models, the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. In other words, both new models are part of the Galaxy Z series. Like the company, among other things, a mid-range Galaxy A-series and a high end Galaxy S series.

It seems that Samsung will also include its future foldable phones within this new series. This is of course not really a surprise, but Samsung has now applied for a trademark to have the name ‘Galaxy Z’ also officially registered.
Samsung Galaxy Z trademark pending
On March 5, 2021, Samsung Electronics filed a trademark with intellectual property agency IP Australia for the name ‘Galaxy Z’. The application has also been included by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The trademark is categorized as Class 9, which includes a wide variety of electronic products.
It can be concluded from the description that it concerns ‘smartphones’, in addition a series of other products are mentioned, including: ‘virtual reality headsets, smartwatches, audio speakers, tablet computers and headphones’.
Not by Galaxy S21 series has been officially announced, it is waiting until the first foldable smartphones of 2021 will arrive. It is expected that Samsung will first announce a new Galaxy Z Flip variant, this clamshell will probably under the name ‘Galaxy Z Flip 3‘are put on the market. Thus, the name corresponds to that of the Z Fold, later this year the Galaxy Z Fold 3 expected. The latter model will probably be the first folding phone from Samsung to support the famous S Pen stylus pen.
In addition, rumors have been circulating for a long time that Samsung will announce not two, but even three foldable devices this year. In addition to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Z Fold 3, there also seems to be a Lite variant of the Fold in development. This variant must become cheaper and will have to miss some functions of the Z Fold 3, although details are still scarce.
Now that Samsung has applied for a trademark for Galaxy Z, the company seems to be getting ready to further shape this new smartphone series. The Z Flip was announced simultaneously with the S20 series last year. The Samsung S21 series is now officially available, so we are waiting for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Although an exact launch date is still unknown, you can assume that this folding phone will be announced in the spring of 2021.
