Bit of a love-hate relationship here with Samsung, both my worst devices and my best were/are Samsungs.
But it probably also has to do with the era; There was a period when I swore I wouldn’t buy anything from Samsung anymore… I just bought a Galaxy S3 and then an S4 mini and those devices were dead after barely a year and a half and both started less than 2 years after purchase to have all kinds of strange problems: inexplicably shutting down or restarting itself, just like that, out of the blue… battery suddenly 0% while you are sure that you had charged it correctly. How many missed phone calls I just had, of which I sometimes got a “missed call” message half an hour or an hour later, while my phone was always with me, with sufficient signal, etc…
Or calls that were unintelligible, were aborted, simply unable to initiate a call -despite sufficient range- without restarting the device first, sometimes 2x in succession, etc…
Had Galaxy Tab 3… Slowest, most exciting tablet ever, so slow I left them in my closet almost brand new never to use again.
From then on used Huawei for a while. (P8, Mate, P20)
Anyway, later, in 2019 or 2020 I don’t know anymore on the outside, back, carefully, to buy me a budget tablet (Samsung Galaxy A Tab 10 inch) and look: 2022 and no regrets, for its price a very solid device, of course not the ‘top of the top’, but smooth enough, despite the little RAM (Gaming via Stadia is perfect, for example), nice enough screen, good enough sound, and above all: after years still as smooth as when she was new… I have the impression that they have their devices, especially their midrange, a lot more in order compared to the past.
Case-in-point: I also bought the Galaxy A71 about a year ago: this is with surplus, the best smartphone I ever had, full stop. What a performing device for a midranger!
In fact, nowadays when I get questions from family or friends who need a new, solid, but not too expensive device, I recommend the Samsung A-line to everyone and they are all very satisfied with it. (A52 for my mother and for my wife, A32 for my daughter).
So yes, my love-hate relationship with Samsung has become a bit rosier in recent years, very happy about this A-line, and about the news that they are renewing them.
