Samsung Predicted Failure to Reach Sales Target of 300 Million Units

Jakarta – A report from South Korea suggests that communications technology company Samsung will not be able to achieve its 2020 sales target of 300 million mobile phones for various smartphone products after 9 consecutive years of consistently heavy sales globally.

According to the latest update by the South Korean technology giant, it has set a goal of surpassing 307 million units by 2021 by expanding the range of mid and low-end 5G smartphones and promoting a foldable model segment that continues to expand its wings.

Of the 307 million units projected for 2021, around 287 million units or 93 percent will be smartphones. It is hoped that, of the 287 million projected exports of Samsung smartphones, 50 million will likely become flagship models.

Earlier at the end of the third quarter of 2020, Samsung confirmed that it had exported around 189 million units, this is still a significant number. However, the pandemic and other factors significantly changed the forecast. []
