Samsung continues its pursuit of leadership in devices with foldable screens, and although this is likely to be achieved in the smart phone market, an official revealed that the South Korean giant has begun preparing to launch the first tablet with a foldable screen.
Samsung is getting the most attention in the foldable phone market at the moment, and a few days ago, the company launched the fifth generation of its devices by announcing the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5.
Tim Roh, head of Samsung’s smartphone sector, said in an interview with The Independent that Samsung has plans to expand production of foldable devices over the coming years.
“Samsung will expand its diversity among foldable devices to include other categories, such as; Tablets, laptop and also PC, and it will continue to evolve after that.”
Pressed further on the idea of a foldable Android tablet, Roh added that Samsung pays attention to tablets, which are among the best-selling segments after smartphones.
From this principle, Roh confirmed that the start will be from tablets to launch the first generation of them with a foldable screen, so it seems that Samsung will apply the same principles that it used when making foldable smartphones, to other categories with larger screens such as laptops and tablets.
Unfortunately, Roh didn’t say when we might see a Samsung-branded foldable tablet or laptop, but said they’re investing and working “strongly” in that direction.
And he emphasized in his speech: “What was applied to smart phones will then spread to tablets and laptops as well, and to this end, we at Samsung invest a lot of resources, and once this basic technology is developed and we believe that the product is ready to provide meaningful services to consumers, of course we will provide it.” “.
It is worth noting that there are already laptops with foldable screens, and they look really interesting given the wide use of them, as is the case in the Zenbook 17 Fold devices launched by Asus in the first months of this year.
