Samsung will bring artificial intelligence to its older devices through the updated One UI 6.1 user interface. The corresponding free update should be available at the end of March, as confirmed by representatives of the company in Barcelona, Spain.
Specifically, the update will be intended for the Galaxy S23, S23 FE, Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 series smartphones. However, tablets from the Galaxy Tab S9 family will also be able to take advantage of AI.

“Our goal is not just to usher in a new era of mobile artificial intelligence with Galaxy AI – we want it to reach as many users as possible,” said TM Roh, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Division.
Thanks to the update, even older devices should in many respects be equal to the latest models from the Galaxy S24 series, which premiered in mid-January in San José, America, and Novinky.cz was there.
“For Galaxy AI technology, the current phase is just the beginning – this year we intend to offer it to more than 100 million people with Galaxy devices around the world and show them how the limitless possibilities of mobile artificial intelligence can be used in everyday life,” outlined TM Roh’s future plans.

What can Galaxy S24 series smartphones do?
Smartphone series Galaxy S24 went on sale at the end of January. The cheapest, of course, is the base model Galaxy S24 with 128GB of memory, potential buyers will pay CZK 21,999 for it. The version with 256GB memory costs 1,500 crowns more, i.e. 23,499 CZK.
Bigger brother Galaxy S24+ it costs CZK 27,999 in domestic stores. We are talking about the 256GB model, as the “plus” is not offered with a smaller capacity. There is also a 512GB variant available for CZK 30,999.
In the case of top performance Galaxy S24 Ultra it is possible to choose between 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of storage. Prices are graded according to memory size as follows: CZK 35,499, CZK 38,499 and CZK 44,499.

AI in the main role
The biggest attraction of the new smartphones is the integration of artificial intelligence. Galaxy AI is fundamentally changing the way we use smartphones. As Novinky.cz was able to try out at the premiere in San José, America, it does it in a very non-violent way – everything works naturally and intuitively.
For example, the new Live Translate function is based on artificial intelligence, which will come in handy when traveling, but also when working with foreign students or colleagues. It is a real-time text and voice two-way call translator that is integrated directly into the phone. So there is no need to install anything.
During a phone call, you just have to choose which language you and the other party speak. Artificial intelligence translates your text to foreigners with only a slight delay, and vice versa, so you can easily reach an agreement even in places where it would otherwise be impossible. Although Czech is not yet among the supported languages, the system otherwise works relatively reliably.

Just like with voice, Galaxy AI can also do magic with text. Translations of messages are completely trouble-free, but phones armed with artificial intelligence can do much more.
A new feature is, for example, Text Assistant (Chat Assist). It is a text tool that can automatically edit text.
For any text, just click on the appropriate button on the virtual keyboard and choose the form into which the text should be converted. The answer will be adjusted according to whether you are sending it to a close colleague, boss or partner. However, we will have to wait for some time to support the Czech language.
The Note Assist function, in turn, makes it possible to use artificial intelligence to create their summaries, format notes using preset templates or create title pages with a preview for them.
The Transcript Assist function is also practical, thanks to which records can be transcribed using AI, their content summarized, and even translated.
