The South Korean technology giant Samsung has decided to promote its latest ‘smartphone’, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, through several videos on YouTube in which it directly compares its features with those of the flagship product of its main opponent, Apple.
In a first video, Samsung shows the zoom power of the cameras on its Galaxy S21 Ultra compared to those on the iPhone 12 Pro Max through a photo of the moon. The result is that the image taken with the Samsung device turns out to be much more detailed than that of Apple thanks to its particular hybrid zoom function, which multiplies the size of the photo by one hundred without affecting the quality.
“Close enough?” Can be read in the ad about the image supposedly captured with the iPhone.
The second comparison video is very similar and shows two photos of a cheese sandwich, with the image of the Galaxy S21 Ultra being much more detailed when zoomed in.
In a third clip, Samsung highlights the function of its new device to take videos and photos simultaneously “in one click”, a feature that the iPhone 12 Pro Max lacks.
However, these announcements appear to be having the opposite effect on the public. Numerous users have taken to the comments section of the videos to criticize the company’s attitude, calling it “pathetic” and “desperate”.
This is not the first time that Samsung has been involved in controversies of this kind. In October 2020, the company mocked Apple for not including a charger and headphones in the box of its iPhone 12. However, in December it began to delete the posts in which it trolled its competitor and in January it became known that Samsung had ended up following in the footsteps of Apple when launching its new Galaxy S21 also without said accessories.
