Samsung launches two new tablets with LCD screens to lower prices

On the tablet market, not all manufacturers play in the same category. Far ahead of the competition with its iPads, Apple does not leave much space for manufacturers of Android tablets. Samsung is an exception, but its products are still selling in smaller proportions.

To go up the slope, the Korean manufacturer has just formalized two new tablets aimed at two different audiences. The first, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE (for Fan Edition), is a kind of response to the iPad Air. The second, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, is aimed at a market in which Apple is not present, the large entry level. Here are their characteristics.

Galaxy Tab S7 FE, LCD instead of OLED

In a store, an uninformed consumer is unlikely to find the difference between a Galaxy Tab S7 FE and a Galaxy Tab S7 +, Samsung’s latest high-end tablet, on their own.
Both devices have a 12.4-inch screen and are compatible with the same accessories (keyboard and stylus) and their design is substantially identical, even if we go from four speakers to two on the FE model.

However, there are big differences between the S7 + and the S7 FE. For example, we are switching from OLED to LCD, which makes Samsung lose one of its flagship assets, from 120 Hz to 60 Hz, and from the Snapdragon 865+ processor to the Snapdragon 765G (also 5G compatible).
Another change, this time positive, the location to recharge the S-Pen is now on the edge of the tablet. It used to be on the back, which was inconvenient.

Marketed from 669 euros, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE is especially cheaper than the Galaxy Tab S7 + (899 euros). A difference not big enough in our opinion, but which could still appeal to people who are looking for a large tablet and want to save some money.

Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, a tablet for less than 200 euros

In another category, we find the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, an entry-level tablet that should delight those on a very small budget. Small (8.7 inches), it uses a MediaTek Helio P22T processor, which suggests that its performance should be very limited. At 179 euros, it nevertheless offers an interesting price-performance ratio.
