Samsung Launches Biometric Sensor OLED Display for Health Monitoring on Future Phones and Tablets

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Samsung launched a new panel technology that has biometric capabilities with health features to be applied to future cellphones and tablets.

This technology is called Sensor OLED Display which can scan user fingerprints across all parts of the screen which was announced at SID Display Week in Los Angeles, United States of America this year.

According to Samsung, the OLED sensor embeds a fingerprint sensor on the panel. This implementation is different from most smartphone currently installing the sensor under the panel as a separate model and only working in certain areas.

With this technology, the screen can also be used to monitor heart rate and blood pressure. In fact, the company claims the results will be more accurate than the features available on other devices.

“To test accurately, it is necessary to measure the blood pressure of both arms. The OLED Sensor screen can simultaneously scan the fingers of both hands, providing more accurate health information than wearable devices (wearable device) others,” the company said in its press release, as quoted EngadgetThursday (25/5/2023).

Even so, the company has not made it clear whether this new technology will be released on the next release device. However, exhibitions at SID Display have demonstrated those capabilities which will be of great use to users.
