Samsung launches a new processor in a bid to rival Apple

Although in 2021, Samsung managed to overtake competitor Apple by a few weeks with the introduction of its own localization pendant, its SmartTag+ is still somewhat behind the “apple” AirTag. Although it also uses ultra-wide-band (UWB) broadband communication technology for accurate location detection at short distances, it does not have it thanks to a processor “from its own garden”, as AirTag uses the U1 chipset. However, while waiting for the new generation of SmartTag, Samsung has now introduced a new processor Exynos Connect U100which should be a direct response.

So far, it has not been specifically mentioned that the presented chipset will head to the new localization pendant, but everything points to it. The new chip combines radio frequencies, flash memory or power management into a single set, so it is suitable for a compact device, such as the new Galaxy SmartTag+. The processor also has a built-in function of Coded Time Sequence (STS), which adds to its importance in the field of secure communication.

It can be expected that in addition to pendants, the newly introduced could Exynos chip with UWB technology soon find application also in the field of opening cars or a wide range of IoT products. The date of first use has not yet been mentioned.

Have you ever used UWB? For what?
