‘Samsung is working on Xcover smartphone with small screen and removable battery’ – Tablets and phones – News

Samsung is working on a next Xcover smartphone, according to a new rumor. The device has a small screen. For the time being, the phone would only be released for the business market and not as a smartphone for consumers.

The Xcover 5 has according to WinFuture a 5.3 “LCD with an aspect ratio of 20: 9 and a resolution of 1600×720 pixels. That adds up to a screen of 12.3×5.5cm, which would make it one of the smallest screens on the smartphone market. In comparison: the iPhone 12 mini has a 5.4 “screen measuring 12.5×5.8cm. Samsung has not made regular smartphones with such small screens for years.

The device would get an Exynos 850-soc. That’s a soc with a 4G modem and four processor cores that go up to 2GHz. According to WinFuture, Samsung adds a working memory of 4GB, while the expandable storage is said to be 64GB.

The phone also has a removable battery with a capacity of 3000mAh. That is below average for a modern smartphone, but it is considerably larger than the battery in the iPhone 12 mini sits. The battery can be charged with 15W. The housing is dust and waterproof with an ip68 certification. There is also a feature to serve as a mobile payment terminal. The phone is therefore aimed at the business market and not for consumers.

Samsung has been making phones in its Xcover line of sturdy smartphones for years. The most recent are the Xcover Pro in FieldPro from the beginning of last year. When the new model will be released is still unknown. According to WinFuture, the device will cost less than three hundred euros. Photos or renders from the device are not there yet.
