Samsung is working on 600 megapixel photo sensors, for beautiful zooms in 4K and 8K video?

In a confidential document shared on Twitter by the account Ice Universe, there is described a 600 MP sensor. This document was intended for investors in the context of a conference called More Pixel, More Camera.

In April, Yongin Park, Executive Vice President of the Sensors Division at Samsung, had already addressed the subject by recalling that the Korean manufacturer was the first to have introduced a 64 MP sensor and the first also to offer a 108 MP sensor six months later.

Samsung’s Nonacell technology allows 9 pixels of 0.8 μm to be encapsulated within a ” super pixel ”2.4 μm. However, at present the technology is still under study. According to the document in question, with the current process, the sensor would represent about 12% of the surface of the smartphone, but above all, it would have a thickness of 22 mm. It would then be 2.5 times thicker than the smartphone itself!

For comparison, the already imposing 108 MP sensor on board the Galaxy Note 20 displays a thickness of 8.3 mm.
