There are several manufacturers who, like Finnish Oura and Korean Skylabs, instead of developing smart bracelets and activity bracelets, have chosen to place the device as a ring on a finger rather than around the wrist. Now the Naver publication claims that Samsung has started developing a smart ring that should be able to monitor health status in real time. As early as a year ago, Samsung registered smart ring patents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and now development is expected to be in full swing together with several other companies to develop the necessary parts and modules. However, development is still expected to be at a very early stage, so no one knows if or when a ring might be presented.
The ring should be able to measure things like heart rate, EKG, activity level, sleep patterns, and more. A ring also has the advantage of being constantly closer to the skin than a usual bracelet or watch, which can lead to more accurate measurement results.
