Samsung is likely to announce this on August 5 | NOW

On Wednesday, August 5, Samsung will announce its new smartphones and other gadgets. We list expectations.

Samsung has not yet officially announced anything about the planned products. The company has only announced a live stream for August 5 at 4:00 PM Dutch time, with the promise that new Galaxy devices will be featured.

However, much has been leaked about the plans in recent months. The phone maker is known for updating its Galaxy Note range around this time. In addition, there are rumors about many other products, which are listed in this piece.

Galaxy Note 20

Central to the event is probably the Galaxy Note 20, a new smartphone that would be sold with three screen sizes. the smallest model measures 6.7 inches, while the largest model offers 6.9 inches of screen space.

The large variant also has higher specifications, such as a better camera with a 108-megapixel sensor. The two smaller ones have to make do with 64 megapixels. All three devices also come with a special stylus.

The device will probably also support 5G, which means that it will work on the recently introduced 5G networks in the Netherlands. The overview below lists all rumors about the Galaxy Note 20.

Galaxy Z Fold 2

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the likely successor to the Galaxy Fold folding phone that Samsung presented last year. Like this device, it can be unfolded into a small tablet, which folds into a pocket when folded.

The Fold 2 has a few minor improvements compared to its predecessor. For example, the screen on the outside is much bigger, which means it can be used folded up as a telephone. In addition, the internal hardware has been improved with, among other things, a faster Snapdragon 865 processor.

The device will most likely work on the 5G network. According to sources, the phone’s official name will also become ‘Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G’.

Galaxy Tab S7

According to sources, two new models are planned in Samsung’s tablet line, both of which are sold under the name Galaxy Tab S7. The smallest variant has an 11-inch screen, while the larger one measures 12.4 inches. They compete with, for example, the iPads Pro from Apple.

The tablet would largely resemble the previous Tab S6, with mostly improvements on the inside. The usual stylus would again come with the tablet. In addition, it has an OLED screen with a high contrast. A 45-watt fast charger may provide it with power quickly, and a dual camera would be on the back.

Galaxy Buds Live

Samsung would introduce a new edition of its wireless earplugs, which will bring a completely new design. The caps look like beans that fit exactly in the opening of an ear. No sticks or other parts protrude.

Presumably, the Galaxy Buds Live have support for active noise cancellation, which attenuates background noise. The battery life is therefore lower than with Samsung’s latest earbuds: the Buds Live are rumored to be able to be used continuously for 4.5 hours.

Galaxy Watch 3

A new edition of Samsung’s smartwatch is also planned. The new Galaxy Watch 3 gets two models with screens of 1.2 and 1.4 inches in size. The watches run on a faster chip and still use the Samsung operating system Tizen.

The physical rotating ring would return with the Watch 3. This was also on the first versions of the smartwatch, which made it possible to control the software by rotating the outer edge. Samsung deleted this addition to the Galaxy Watch 2.
