Samsung has been on the agenda for a long time with its efforts to boost earnings rates. Wanting to take the competition with Apple to the next level, Samsung decided to change their strategy.

According to a report by Hankyung, the decision to change strategy was made during an executive meeting with Samsung’s Device Experience division. Vice President Han Jong-hee said, “We need to think of ways to strengthen the competitiveness of smartphones without getting stuck on cost reduction.” he said.

Jong-hee is said to be trying to avoid producing phones with inconsistent designs and features, which have a short life. This new strategy is expected to launch in 2023 and focus on building phones that allow the company to better compete against its only real competitor.

While it hasn’t been officially announced yet, it is known that the Galaxy S23 series will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with increased core speed. This move qualifies as one of the first steps towards increasing competition.

The performance core, which is 3.2GHz in standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors, will be boosted to 3.36GHz in the Samsung Galaxy S23 family. The other processor cores will run at frequencies of 2.8 GHz and 2.0 GHz.

The technical details of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, which will be released next year, are as follows;

  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
  • Screen: 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3,088 x 1,440 pixels
  • RAM and storage: 8GB/12GB RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB storage
  • Camera: 108-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, 12-megapixel telephoto camera and 2-megapixel depth sensor
