Jakarta (ANTARA) – Samsung has the potential to launch a laptop with a foldable OLED screen in 2023 following its success in the foldable phone realm in recent years.
Saturday’s Gizmochina page wrote that the news was revealed by the few hidden details in Samsung’s production planning report.
This is also possible because Samsung is showing positive results related to the development of foldable screen laptops.
The under-development laptop is known to have a 17.3-inch panel manufactured by Samsung Display.
Several factors may influence Samsung’s decision whether or not to release the laptop, one of which is market conditions which are experiencing a global slowdown.
Another factor in terms of price, considering that this laptop will come with new innovations, there is a possibility that the price is high and obviously it will be taken into consideration.
As far as laptops with foldable screens go, ASUS may be the last to bring this technology to market.
This is evidenced by the release of the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold, the screen of which is produced by the screen manufacturer BOE and is sold for 3,500 dollars (54.6 million Rp).
With these steep prices, it is clear that ASUS has plans to target the high-end market.
This also makes only 10,000 units produced globally.
The industry also estimates that in the near future, HP will also release a laptop with a foldable screen in partnership with LG as the screen maker.
Even so, it’s unclear when the product will be released.
With Samsung being one of the largest OLED screen manufacturers in the world, it will obviously be ahead of its competitors in terms of price restraint.
In 2023, Samsung aims to produce up to 8.5 million units of OLED screens and it is possible that a foldable screen laptop will be one of its products.
