2021 was a good year for Samsung and its foldable smartphones, the manufacturer reveals that its sales have quadrupled compared to 2020.
Samsung has made good progress with foldable smartphones
This year, Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, which helped it beat analysts’ projections for a three-fold increase in sales. In fact, the company noted that a month after the launch of the smartphones, the two devices had exceeded the cumulative sales of Samsung’s foldable smartphones in 2020. The tech firm expects this growth to continue as the market continues. foldable devices are expected to increase tenfold by 2023.
While Samsung won’t go into sales details, it did note that there were increases of 150% and 140% respectively for customers who switched to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 compared to the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy. S21. The company’s internal investigation found that consumers have opted for its foldable devices for a number of reasons, including the overall design, increased productivity capabilities, larger screen area and more.
Samsung says it will continue to invest in research and development for future foldable smartphones. The group also intends to continue its collaboration with several partners and developers to have many applications that really use the screen and the foldable side.
