Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: Finally Eliminating the Annoying Gap in the Display

Current Samsung puzzles were plagued by an unpleasant design feature
The gap between the two halves of the display increased the risk of damage
This year’s generation will finally eliminate this ailment

Already at the end of this month, we should wait for the official presentation of the next generation of smartphones with a flexible display Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. Last week, a large number of press images even saw the light of day (we reported here), thanks to which we could have a very good look at both models view in detail.

No more annoying gaps

Since the first generation, Samsung has been blamed for the unpleasant gap that occurs between the two halves of the display when it is closed. Not only when carrying it in a pocket, it was relatively easy for small dirt to get between it. The competition solved this problem much earlier, but it seems that this year we will finally see Samsung too.

The first three photos of the real Galaxy Z Fold 5 prototype have appeared on the Internet, from which it is evident that the gap has indeed been removed and the two halves of the display are therefore in one plane. It can be expected that a similar improvement in the joint will appear in the compact clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Samsung apparently managed to reduce the size and weight between generations of the Fold 5 – the width will remain 67.1 mm, but the height will be reduced to 154.9 mm and the thickness will even be 13.4 mm. The weight should be 253 grams. The driving engine will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which should be accompanied by 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal memory.

The battery capacity should again be 4,400 mAh. Intergenerational increases in resilience have also been speculated. Instead of the expected IP58 protection, the upcoming jigsaw is said to retain the current IPX8. Visually, compared to last year’s model, only three minor changes are visible – moving the flash from the space under the cameras, the already mentioned new joint that eliminates the gap and flatter sides. The Fold 5 should be sold in three basic color variants – cream, blue and black. It will most likely appear on store shelves at the beginning of August.
