Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Criticized by Employees for Lack of Innovation

Samsung will introduce the fifth generation of its flexible smartphones this summer. While we know practically everything about the larger external display and other improvements of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5, there is practically no talk about the new Galaxy Z Fold 5. According to the latest rumors, there probably won’t be many of them.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will only be a minor evolution

The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphone was recently criticized by the well-known whistleblower Ice Universe citing sources directly within Samsung. According to some employees of the Korean company, the phone will bring a boring design and a minimum of innovation, which is why it would not even deserve the name Galaxy Z Fold 4s.

When we reviewed last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 4, we complained about a minimum of intergenerational innovation. This year, the same song will probably play out, because according to the latest rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will receive practically the same design, similar dimensions, identical diagonals of both displays, the same resolution of all cameras and the same battery capacity with a maximum charging power of 25 watts.

And what news will we expect? For now, there is only speculation about a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, higher IP58 resistance and a brand new hinge design. Reportedly, Samsung will not bend the display in half as before, but will use a drop-shaped curve. This solution should bring several advantages – the phone can be folded without a gap between the two displays (the thickness in the closed state is said to decrease by up to 2.4 mm), the flexible glass will last longer, and the fold will be less visible. According to Ice Universe, however, no big revolution is on the way, compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the difference in folding will be almost unrecognizable – Chinese brands are said to be ahead in this area.

There is no talk of any other news, we will have to wait at least another year for the integration of the S Pen directly into the body.
