After a Galaxy S23 Ultra with a 200 megapixel sensor, many rumors pointed out that Samsung’s new foldable smartphones would also have significant improvements in the cameras.
But it seems that these predictions were too optimistic. According to the latest rumors, both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will retain the camera settings of the previous models.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will retain previous-gen camera setup
After Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 Ultra with a 200 megapixel sensor packed with new technology, there were many experts who suggested that the brand would also make significant improvements to the cameras of the next generation of folding smartphones.
Some rumors even advanced that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could arrive equipped with a super sensor of 108 megapixels. But the latest rumors about these foldables “tell another story”.
Leaker Yogesh Brar shared on the social network Twitter that both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will maintain the rear camera configuration of the previous generation models.
Although the number of pixels is not the only indicator of the photographic capabilities of the terminal, a higher resolution is always desirable, at least on the primary sensor.
But it looks like that won’t happen and the Fold 5 will have a triple rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor.
In turn, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a dual camera setup with the primary sensor and ultra wide angle sensor providing 12 megapixels of resolution each.
Exactly the same, in both cases, to the resolutions presented by sensors of previous generations.
Also according to the well-known leaker, the news is that these could be new sensors. Which means that Samsung, despite maintaining the same resolutions, can equip foldables with improved and more competent sensors.
Samsung foldables with new processor and hinge mechanism
What looks certain to be new is the new water drop hinge mechanism. Rumor has it that this new mechanism will help reduce the thickness of equipment, as well as increase durability.
On the other hand, the models of the two new series of foldables will also be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, but in its customized version for the Galaxy platform. As with the top Galaxy S23 series.
Yogesh Brar also advances that the Galaxy Z Fold 5, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have larger external screens. With special emphasis on the latter, which could jump from 1.9 inches to 3.4 inches.
Moreover, this information had already been advanced by other leakers well known to the public.
