What comes Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 to bid on 2022? If it is to follow in the footsteps of Galaxy Z Fold 3 it should come with support for Samsung’s S Pen stylus, but a new rumor suggests that the support will have some limitations.
According to Naver (via @FrontTron) none of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 prototypes currently being developed at Samsung have any integrated place to store an S Pen, making it unlikely that we will see one in the final version of the foldable phone. The design will apparently be ready in March.
The lack of an S Pen slot is not a total disaster – Galaxy Z Fold 3 has none, and neither does Galaxy S21 Ultra – but it’s really much more comfortable with one. It’s a key feature of Galaxy Noteseries that has not yet taken over to any other mobiles.
A cheaper price
You may be able to buy an official Samsung Case for Galaxy Z Fold 4 to charge the S Pen – otherwise you will need to use a pocket or a third-party case to store the pen when not in use.
Although the expansion of the S Pen support for the Ultra series in the S series and Z Fold series is welcome, it seems that Samsung is not fully committed to the change – or they may not be sure that everyone who buys these phones will want an S Pen.
We have not heard very many rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 yet, but it has talked about that some of the camera upgrades will be quite overwhelming and that it can be sold for one cheaper price than its predecessor. If Samsung sticks to its usual annual schedule, we should see the foldable mobile show up sometime around August next year.

In the midst of a global pandemic and a chip shortage that has affected almost every electronics company in the world, it seems that Samsung has decided to suspend work on the Galaxy Note series: there has been no official announcement, but Galaxy Note 20 from 2020 had no successor in 2021.
With Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 4 on the way, it can be argued that the Note series is not really needed – especially if these mobiles have S Pen support, as expected. But without an integrated S Pen slot, that support has some limitations.
Being able to insert the pen into the mobile itself is much more convenient than having to buy a separate case – which is required for both Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The integrated location was a big part of what attracted with the Galaxy Note.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to be more Note-like than ever when it appears next year, and may even adopt the Note name. But without a proper place to store the S Pen stylus, it does not quite match everything that the Galaxy Note had to offer, and that is something we hope Samsung will fix in 2023 if not next year.
