It looks like it’s going to be a big day for Samsung on August 11th, as rumors say it’s the day we’ll see Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, and potentially more devices are presented. Now we have just heard a rumor that another mobile may be on the way, namely the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite.
This is according to The Korea Herald, citing industrial sources. If this is true it would have helped make folding mobiles much cheaper. The Galaxy Z Flip series is already cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold series and a Lite model would have been even cheaper – although an exact price has not been mentioned yet.
It is worth noting that this statement should be taken with a pinch of salt. There have been a few rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite, but it’s not a device we’ve heard much about yet and recently claimed Ross Young (a leak with good history) that work on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite had been discontinued due to the ongoing chipset shortage.
Lower prices are likely
But even if we do not get to see a Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite, can Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 be cheaper than its predecessor. A number of leaks have tilted in this direction, including a fairly new one from the leak FrontTron, who claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G will cost $ 1249 for the model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
By comparison, the original Galaxy Z Flip cost about $ 1380 at launch, so this would have been a significant reduction if it turns out to be true.
We will probably find out all of this soon, as all indications are that Samsung will announce its upcoming devices in August. We previously thought this would happen on August 3, but now both The Korea Times and several other reports point to it August 11th.
