The flagship Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is expected to appear soon, but not everyone needs an expensive tablet – and for these users, Samsung has just announced an alternative called the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8.
This tablet has a 10.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1200 x 1920, four stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos sound, a 7,040 mAh battery with 15 W charge, a rear camera of 8 MP, a front camera of 5 MP and a 2 GHz eight-core chipset. Samsung has not named the chipset, but it is apparently 10% faster than what is used in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7.
Other specifications include Android 11, a 3.5mm headphone port, a microSD card slot and optional LTE connectivity. Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 which comes in three configurations – one with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage, one with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage and one with 4GB RAM and 128 GB storage. You can choose between the colors gray, silver and rose gold.

The only big question that remains is how much the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 will cost; Samsung has not revealed the price yet, but with these specifications we expect at most a price in the middle class, but probably lower than that.
However, we should find out soon, as the tablet will go on sale in parts of Europe before the end of December, while the US will get it in January.
Analysis: a tablet designed for almost everyone
It seems that Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 is built for almost all types of users. Samsung claims that it is optimized for entertainment, streaming and online learning needs, and with a large screen, four speakers and LTE support, it should fit nicely for all tasks, but its uses do not end there.
Its split-screen features should also make it a useful tablet for multitasking and productivity, while its Samsung Kids mode enables children to use it, as it offers interactive educational content and parental controls.
But this will not be a tablet for just all types of users. It will likely lack the power required for advanced games or other demanding tasks, such as video editing, and there is no mention of any keyboard or stylus accessory, which will limit its capabilities for creative and productive purposes. It also does not seem to support DeX, Samsung’s system for easily linking devices to a larger screen.
For anyone who needs such functionality, a tablet in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series is certainly a better buy – but it will also cost much more.
