I am quite careful with all my stuff including a ~750-1000 EUR. costing Smartphone that you buy every few years.
But I still have serious trouble to do with 1 smartphone for 4 years. Often, after 2 years, the repair costs are just as high as the current value of the device.
6 to 7 years seems a bit far…but maybe not for critical security updates.
