Many other manufacturers already have seamless updates, but the Galaxy S25 could be the first Samsung S-mobile with the feature.
The so-called seamless update technology has been around since Android 7 Nougat, but Samsung consistently didn’t implement it until it appeared in the Galaxy A55 earlier this year. And next year it might be time to get the S models. This is according to leaks that claim to have an insight into Samsung’s plans for its upcoming flagships.
Updating an operating system can be a very long story with a lot of waiting time, at least if the mobile phone does not have something called a seamless update. The technology is based on updating and changing between two versions of Android that are stored on two different parts of the internal storage space. When a new version of Android is available, the update will be installed on the currently unused partition. When the phone restarts, it switches to the updated partition, which is then updated in the background until the two partitions are equal again.
The technology makes it easier for users not to wait for updates to be implemented, and a backup version of Android is still available if the new update causes problems.
